Gout is an inflammatory condition of the joints caused by accumulated uric acid crystals deposited into areas around the joints that house lubricated fluids and therefore become inflamed.

Essential oils present in Gout Myrtle have a concentration of anti-inflammatory properties and are diuretic in nature. It may prevent flare-ups and improve circulation making it a good choice for those that suffer with gout, edema, hypertension and or stiff muscles. Rub thoroughly into affected areas using a circular motion until the oil has penetrated.

For best results apply a warm towel over the affected areas before massaging Gout Myrtle into skin. Alternatively for hands and feet, boil the kettle and soak in a tub of warm water mixed with our Lemongrass Myrtle Bathsalts. Apply 3-4 tablespoons of the bath salts and soak for a minimum of 10 minutes before massing the Gout Myrtle into the affected area. Once massaged apply a warm towel onto the area. Drinking plenty of water to remove toxins is recommended.

Our blend of lemon myrtle, thuja, frankincense, marjoram, peppermint, wintergreen, birch, basil, camphor along with grape seed oils act as a powerful anti-inflammatory combination to penetrate deeply; using each other's powerful properties to break down uric acid crystals deposited around the joints, increase circulation of blood by bringing warmth to the area to fight pain.

Thuja essential oil is a promising detoxifier, astringent and diuretic that aids in eliminating the harmful toxins and other excessive deposits like fluids, salt, uric acid and improper blood circulation which are the major causes for rheumatic pain, arthritis, inflammation and gout. It eliminates these toxins through urine and purifies the blood stream. We recommend drinking plenty of water after use of our Gout Myrtle.

Frankincense essential oil assists in relieving chronic stress and anxiety, reducing pain and inflammation, boosting immunity and even potentially helping to fight cancer.

Marjoram a cousin to oregano is naturally high in antioxidants, making it excellent for the cardiovascular system as well as the whole body. It is also an effective vasodilator, meaning it can help widen and relax blood vessels. This eases the flow of blood and reduces blood pressure. Marjoram can assist in reducing the pain that often comes with muscle tightness or muscle spasms.

Wintergreen essential oil is said to have analgesic, anti-rheumatic, anti-arthritic, antispasmodic, antiseptic, aromatic and astringent properties, it also acts as a carminative and diuretic .

As a pain relief Wintergreen oil can help alleviate headaches, muscle cramps, joint pain, tendonitis and bone pain. Wintergreen oil also helps drive out stress and tension. Lastly, Wintergreen oil stimulates blood circulation around the affected tissues and muscles, helping clear blood obstructions, it reaches the bloodstream where it helps stimulate and increase urination, speeding up the removal of uric acid and other toxins. This can reduce the effects of rheumatism.

Camphor essential oil is used topically to relieve pain and reduce itching, it increases local blood flow which reduces swelling. When first applied, camphor oil numbs and cools the peripheral nerve endings, then warms the painful area as it stimulates circulation to cold, stiff muscles and limbs. This analgesic effect of camphor makes it a favourite oil to be used in pain relieving massage blends.

Birch essential oil is an effective anti-spasmodic, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, disinfectant, astringent, and diuretic; it really shines in its use to combat muscle and joint pain.  Bar none, Birch is the oil you want to use to relieve the pain of arthritis, tendonitis, gout, and severe muscle cramping.
